Questions Make Change

Why

What for

How many times

No more

Why not

Who said

Was it you

Have you read

Questions posed

Some answers too

As expected

Not pandered to

These young people

Are pushing through

Asking for change

From me and you

So how can we

Do what is sensible

To prevent

What’s reprehensible

I Think

I think, I thought,

And then i don’t.

I wish I would

But, no, I won’t.

I will, I can

For I’m human.

And when I do

Will she, will you?

Do not guess

Do not rest

Do do all that is your best

Why

Why cry

Why do they have to die

Why do I still not have a dry eye

Why do we have to keep asking why

Why lie

Why not ask what you or I can try

Why not ally

Why not seek answers from the sky

Why do so many have to say too late goodbyes

Why

Let’s try

Be the ally

No more to die

Tears or Tears

Tears of sadness

Tears of joy

Tears for the madness

Tears for being

Destroyed

Tears can signal the best there’s been

Tears can tear apart the love we’ve seen

The tears at the fabric of our society

Bring tears of expanding anxiety

‪Great‬

Greatness lies hidden

At times in people forbidden

But this trait will typically shine through

A radiance that shows the you

You were meant to radiate

To share your sense of great-

fullness

Which offers full redress

For the missed magnificence

It is what all makes sense

Starting

I rub the sleep from my eyes

finding focus

I see now,

clearly,

what I’ve been looking for,

dreaming about,

It

is

you

I

am

better for you

Together

we make

a love,

a life,

a family

Two become

one,

who become

infinite possibilities

Do

Do

what you can

Do

n’t just sit there doing nothing

Do

make eye contact

Do

n’t avoid those you pass each day

Do

reach out

Do

n’t pull away, say hi

Do

you remember porches?

Do

n’t forget waves & smiles & what they

Do

for us

Do

good things each day

Do

n’t stop loving each other

Watching

In response to this week’s Micropoetry (@pssms) prompt #WATCHING.

‪What are we #watching for?‬

‪Shouldn’t we do something?‬

‪There’s nothing to do. ‬

‪Look at those behaviors abhorred‬

‪The politicians say one thing‬

‪Thoughts and prayers, yet still slaughtered youth,‬

‪And others. What’s next in store?‬

‪We keep saying, saying‬

‪Guns don’t kill, people do.‬
